UGI Central Penn Gas is proposing a hike of near $15 a month to pay for system upgrades according to an which accompanied recent customer gas bills.

If state regulators approve the plan, a monthly bill for a typical customer would rise $14.69 — or 16.9 percent — from $87.03 to $101.72 a month. Bills for commercial customers would increase about 19 percent under the proposal. The utility’s total rate increase amounts to $16.5 million annually, or 15.4 percent of its annual revenue.

In addition to system improvements Central Penn said it is seeking to raise the delivery part of a bill to fund rebates and provide incentives for customers to install energy-efficient equipment. The state Public Utility Commission is reviewing the rate hike request. Hey great,
Not only do we get to see our area destroyed, our water destroyed, our roads destroyed, we get to pay more for it.
What could be better?
Wind turbines!!
Complete destruction of our mountains, complete destruction of our property values, complete distruction of our quiet lives and and a huge increase in our electric rates because of them, all for a power that is failing to produce up to its claims world wide and we get to subsidies them with tax money (our money).
Yea, it can't get any better than this!!

What system upgrades ?delivery ?what a joke! This is why i went to coal heat ! It's bad when people that work for the gas co.tell you they heat with wood, coal or electric !

Just like CCMH employees telling you that they wouldn't rather die outside the hospital then being treated inside.

Poster 12:28 sounds like an idiot.
What does this nasty comment have to do with natural gas rate hikes?

Guess I'm putting a wood boiler in this spring.

I got a wood stove back when they first started these random raises.. I've paid for that sucker 4 times over! Wood or coal is the ONLY way to go. Piss on the gas companies.

When you listen to all the big wigs and attend all the meeting - one would believe that this whole gas thing is absolutely wonderful. And to think, our elected officials did it all by themselves.

I love wind turbines!

UGI should be using local gas. They do not have to pay to transport from Texas and the Gulf. Much cheaper transport cost now. Its time for a rate decrease. What a Monopoly! I wish we had municipal ran gas service.

3:34 you better love them.
Your tax dollars are being used to build them in areas where there is not nearly enough wind.
So much for the free enterprise system and getting government out of our lives.

Poster 3;34 clearly knows nothing about wind turbines.
They are a complete failure made possible only by tax subsidies.
At least gas is a product that works.
Enjoy paying more for each.
Just give up eating and you should have no problem paying for either of them!!

I agree with 8:49 ....

8:42 - Tax subsidies are not limited to wind power. The Oil & Gas industry receives billions in subsidies for "a product that works."

Doubt it? Do the research...a quick google search will get you started.

Think about it...your taxes are sent to the Oil companies and then you receive an increase in gas rates. How's them apples?

Every type of heat is expensive I guess. But I would much rather buy a couple tri'axle loads of pole wood for 1200.00 a year than to continue to pay 6,000 to 8,000 for propane a year!!!
Putting in an out door wood boiler system to heat our home and garage is the best thing we ever did, and I agree with 1:57:00 PM, ours paid for itself the first winter we had it up and running!
The exercise is good for us too, helps to keep you healthy and fit!

How do they expect retired people to pay???? My SS did not get a increase. They tried to tell us the cost of living did not go up. What does the government think we are a bunch of morons!!! Please tell me what did not go up. GUess I should sell everything and go to a nursing home so the government can feed and take care of me.
