George William "Bill" Gray, 74, San Antonio, TX, Bolivar Native

San Antonio, TX - George William "Bill" Gray, 74, died Tuesday (March 1, 2011) in San Antonio, Where he had been a resident for the past seven years.

A memorial service was held March 7, 2011, at the Oxford United Methodist Church in San Antonio.

Born Jan. 17, 1937, in Bolivar, NY, he was a son of Daniel T. and Helen Buckhout Gray.

Bill loved his hometown and wrote a book about it entitled "Growing up in Bolivar," available at the Bolivar Oil Museum.

He graduated from Bolivar Central School in 1954 and was a civil engineering graduate of Carnegie Mellon University. He served with the U.S. Army following college education.

Bill was an accomplished engineer, working in a number of states and in Ecuador and Venezuela.

Surviving are his son, Douglas (Ivette) Gray, and his beloved granddaughter, Sierra Gray, all of San Antonio; and his sister, Miriam Gray of Bolivar with whom he had a close relationship.

A memorial service will be held April 20, 2011, at 4 p.m. in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Bolivar.
