Lewis G. Benjamin, 68 of Bettum’s Idlewood Family Campground, 299 Big Shanty Road, Lewis Run, formerly of O’Fallon, IL

Lewis G. Benjamin, 68 of Bettum’s Idlewood Family Campground, 299 Big Shanty Road, Lewis Run, formerly of O’Fallon, IL, passed away on Friday, March 18, 2011 at the Gulfside Center for Hospice Care, Zephyrhills, FL.

He was born on September 28, 1942 in Bradford, the son of the late Lewis S. and Alyce C. Silvis Benjamin.

He served in the Army from 1960 to 1963.

After his military service he worked as a Mailman for 3 years in Texas and 33 years in Illinois, until his retirement in 2003.

He was a member of the Eagles club and he loved spending time outdoors whether it was riding on his four-wheeler or going fishing on his boat.

He is survived by four sisters, Nancy (Frank) Shonts, Bradford, Sandra Shonts, Liverpool, NY, Evelyn (Bruce) Morgan, Cyclone, Alice (Ed) Reed, Bradford and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the Mascho Funeral Home, Inc. from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM with funeral services immediately following with the Rev. William Watson, pastor of the Foursquare Gospel Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Smethport.

Memorial contributions in his memory can be made to the American Cancer Society, 56 Thompson Ave., Bradford or the McKean County Visiting Nurse’s Association Hospice Program, 20 School St., Bradford.
