Thats a good start! Now the state should have HUGE layoffs in the DEP,DCNR,FISH&GAME and PENN-DOT!!!

WTF!!! What a crock of BS this is. Maybe its time for the people to take back control of the government. Maybe its time or some civil unrest and rioting in the streets of Harrisburg!

Words fail! The control that big gas has over our state grows by the day, thanks to Team Corbett. Perhaps we should just abandon the sham of trying to regulate the industry and let them do as they please. Maybe Corbett should let the officials of Cabot Energy (notorious environmental offenders) who were on his transition team run the DER and thus avoid even the pretense of caring about our environment. God gave us the beauty of Potter County, and the Corbett folks have given it, or sold it, away.

9:51 why don't you move to Lybia! 10:56 Rendell sold out PA long ago!

Or maybe this is simply to eliminate the hundreds of "violations" that are written outside the scope of the regulations.

It is very tough for the industry to follow the regulations when you have to work with inspectors interpreting laws differently than one within the same county.

It is about time the state took away the authority for inspectors to write rouge violations for personal reasons.

what`s next ? Arrest people who speak out against the gas companies ? Jail folks who don`t agree with our lame ass governor ? This guy is a tool.

Dear 11:36:00 PM,

How else do you suggest the people of PA address the transfer of oversight authority from technically trained personnel to political appointees?

This move really is an insult to the residents of Pennsylvania.

Suggesting we leave our state and our homes is both juvenile and un-American.

I might agree with you if the inspectors were technically trained. Many received the new regulations days or weeks after they went into effect with no training or explanation of what was changed. Many of the "new" inspectors hired last year were simply those displaced from other DEP programs due to budget cuts. Again they were not trained just told to go start writing violations because the Governor didn't get industry support for his severence tax.

You really want someone that was hired off the street DEP,DCNR,FORESTRY,ect to be able to stop people and write fines? I once had a DCNR/FORESTRY person stop and tell me and my 7 year old child that we had no bussiness being on state owned land !( We were just out for a walk in the woods when he stopped us)Try explaning that! If you don't like it here move!Thats America!

Our 14 county region has 2 oil and gas inspectors and 2 water inspectors. New water inspector was coming soon.

Our oil and gas inspectors are NOT fresh untrained faces. I know this for a fact, having met them in Wellsboro.

YOU are either lying or don't know what you're talking about.

(Our) 14 county region ?(Our) oil and gas inspectors ? Spoken like a true state employee! Why no comment about me and my child being told we had no business being on STATE OWNED land ?

I too have met our inspectors and as someone with an extensive technical background in both the gas industry and environmental sciences and can attest to the cluelessness of our inspectors.

Who are you kidding! 90% of those guys running around haven't got a clue about the oil and gas industry all they know is write them up and they will pay!
