Shot Fired Into Ceiling Of Apartment Building

A Mills, PA man remains in Potter County Jail today in lieu of $100,000. cash bail after firing a gun into the ceiling of an apartment building occupied by 5 children and 2 adults in an incident in the Village of Mills, Potter County on Wednesday between 3:45 pm and 4:35 pm.

John W. Huggler, 36, of Mills, PA, stands charged by State Police with:

Tfc. David A. Burd, of PSP Coudersport, in a news release today, said that Huggler was heavily intoxicated and became involved in a physical altercation with a known 33 year old female on Route 49 within the village of Mills. Huggler interfered with the normal movement of traffic traveling on the roadway. He returned to the house with the female and retrieved a rifle from the gun cabinet and discharged one round into the ceiling of the apartment.


Huggler also damaged property of the Verizon Telephone Company located on the apartment building.


The apartment building, located at the intersection of Route 49 and Marsh Creek Road in Harrison Township, is owned by Barry L. Wentzell of Mills.

Huggler was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Delores G. Bristol, of Galeton, who set bail at $100,000. straight cash. Huggler was unable to post the bail and was committed to the Potter County Jail. He faces a preliminary hearing before Judge Bristol set for 9:00 am on March 10, 2011.
