TEMPORARY SIGNALS TO BE PLACED AS MOSQUITO CREEK BRIDGEWORK BEGINS NEAR KARTHUS

3/25/2011
Clearfield County

Temporary signals to be placed as Mosquito Creek bridgework begins
Signals will be on Route 1011 and Route 879 near Karthaus

Clearfield – Area drivers will encounter temporary signals soon as
rehabilitation work gets underway on the Mosquito Creek Bridge in
Clearfield County.

The bridge is located on Route 1011 near the village of Karthaus

and the intersection with Route 879. Traffic signals will be in place on Route
1011(Karthaus/Piper Highway) and on the northbound ramp from Route 879.
Motorists are cautioned to slow down as they approach the signals and work
zone. Motorists should also be prepared to stop.

Two-way traffic will remain in effect on the bridge as the signals go into
flash mode on March 31. On April 4, the signals will be fully operational
and traffic will alternate turns across the bridge. Temporary concrete barrier
will also be in place through the work zone.

Work includes substructure concrete repairs, steel repairs, painting,
bearing replacement, and deck replacement. This bridgework is part of a $2.3
million contract to repair five bridges in Cameron, Clearfield, McKean and Potter
counties. Swank Associated Companies, Inc. is the A contractor on this
job. Work is expected to last through August.
