To Fill A Backpack

Butch Brown is pictured accepting a water bottle from Andy Kulp in appreciation for his volunteer work for the “To Fill a Backpack” program.

Butch and other participants from Erie Homes for Children and Adults have volunteered for the program by bundling supplies to fill backpacks for school students. The "To Fill A Backpack" program was started in 2008 to help "send children to school with the supplies they need". The program collects school supplies and monetary donations and then fills school backpacks with supplies. The backpacks are then donated to children's families that may not be able to afford them. The cost of a fully packed backpack cost's between $20 and $25 which along with purchasing school clothes and shoes can get costly. The program hopes to alleviate some of the cost by providing an important part of a child's daily trip to school. On behalf of the organization and the children that will benefit I would like the thank Butch and the other volunteers from Erie Homes for their help.
