Catherine A. "Kaye" Sunseri, 93, formerly of Eldred, PA

ELDRED, PA - Catherine A. "Kaye" Sunseri, 93, formerly of Eldred, died Saturday (April 2, 2011) at the Bradford Manor following a long illness.

Born April 30, 1917, in Emporium, she was a daughter of Joseph and Maria Aita DiBello. On Aug. 19, 1939, in St. Mark's Catholic Church, Emporium, she married Samuel P. Sunseri, who passed away March 31, 1980.

Mrs. Sunseri was a 1935 graduate of Emporium High School and had resided in Eldred since 1948. She was employed in the family grocery store, DiBello's Grocery in Emporium, for several years. When her husband was called to war, she took over for him as manager of the Quality Cash grocery store in Emporium from 1942 to 1946. Later, from 1965 to 1968, she worked in the inventory department of Market Basket grocery stores.

Mrs. Sunseri was a member of St. Raphael Church in Eldred, where she was an honorary life member of the Parish Alter Rosary Society; a member of Catholic Daughters of America Court Bishop Gannon #1059 of Emporium; AARP; past leader of the Ginger Snaps Brownie troop and Girl Scouts. She had held offices in the Eldred Borough Parent-Teacher Association and Eldred Grange #53.

She loved cooking and was a great cook. She enjoyed collecting cookbooks, flower gardening, flower arranging, painting still-lifes in oils and playing the piano.

Surviving are a daughter, Sandra (Irvin) Chase of Eldred; five grandchildren, Allen Chase, Christopher Chase, Corey (Kristie) Chase and Derek Chase, all of Eldred, and Valerie (David) Ward of Bradford; great-grandchildren, Meagan, Scott and Brandon Chase, all of Erie, Brittany, Tora, Holley and Michael Chase, all of Eldred, Nicholas and Alexis Ward of Bradford; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Louis DeBello and Joseph DiBello; and a sister, Teresa Hasselman.

Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Frame Funeral Home, Eldred. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday (April 7, 2011) at 11 a.m. in St. Raphael Church, Eldred, with Father Casimir A. Bogniak as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Raphael Cemetery, Eldred.

The family gratefully declines flowers and suggests memorials be made to the Eldred Borough Ambulance Fund or St. Raphael Parish Altar Rosary Society.
