Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers to Hold 8th Annual Meeting

The Board of Directors of the Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers has set a date for its seventh annual meeting. It will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2011 beginning at 8:30 am at the Towanda Country Club on Route 6 East of Towanda.

The theme of the 8th Annual Meeting is “Helping You Create Better Communities.” The guest speaker is Kristy Griffith, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters who was the recipient of a Floyd Hooker Estate Fund grant. She used the grant funds to extend the Big Brothers Big Sisters program services to the youth of Tioga County, NY.

She will discuss the services provided by the program she administers and the progress they have made and the impact this evidence based program has had in positively impacting the lives of the children served. She will have one of the volunteer “big” sisters speak about her experiences with her “little” over the past year.

In addition, the meeting will give recognition to the new funds established in 2010, CFTT donors and the work of the County Advisory Boards. The 2010 CFTT Annual Report will be presented to the community for the first time and recognition will be given to the newest members of the CFTT Visionary Society.

The Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers (CFTT) a non-profit public foundation established in 2002 by a diverse group of local leaders and residents encourages community philanthropy to enhance the quality of life for those who reside in Bradford, Potter, Sullivan and Tioga Counties in Pennsylvania and Tioga County in New York State.

Bill Ransom, Board Chair, stated: “Our funds are raised locally and are used to meet local needs. It is a very exciting time for us. We are growing very rapidly and you get a real sense of satisfaction in being able to experience the fruits of your labor. You know in the end all the hard work on everyone’s part is worth it. The potential for good in the future is only limited by the generosity of the people of the region.”

If you have an interest in attending the annual meeting, please call or email the Foundation office to make reservations. There is no cost to attend.
