Potter-Tioga Maple Festival May 6th and 7th

Potter-Tioga Maple Festival

Potter County is on the front page of the Harrisburg Patriot News today, literally! 50,000 "post-it" notes featuring the Potter-Tioga Maple Festival were stuck to the front page and are being distributed to 18 zip codes in and around Harrisburg.

Anyone who brings one of the notes to the Potter County booth during the festival (May 6 & 7) will receive some special Potter County gifts.

Are there any distance from Marcellus gas well site requirements for the sap collected to produce the maple syrup being sold?

I personally mix marcellus wastewater with my sap before I boil and I make the best tasting syrup around!!

Please get a life!

P.S. I bet you know very little about natural resource extraction or maple syrup production

11:46 "Natural resource extraction"
isn't what I'm concerned with.
The unknown and un-regulated toxic chemicals being pumped
into the ground in Potter is what concerns me.

Like it or not,if Potter County is being industrialized
by the gas industry, questions
related to the industry's use of toxic chemicals near food sources are not only reasonable but responsible.

This is a reasonable question.
If you don't want to answer it,
maybe someone else can .
Are there distant requirements for the Marcellus gas wells
from Maple trees and food crops?

I'm sure many people wonder about food safety having learned
of the toxic chemicals and radioactive waste.

I drive around and see trucks carrying god knows what
and see the well sites near
corn crops and potato crops and it raises what seem to me as valid concerns with the safety of the food sources.

If you know about "natural resource extraction" and Maple Syrup production" maybe you can just answer the question.

I have a life...just wanting to preserve it.

The first question is a very good one. Since nobody obviously knows the answer for sure I will go with Vermont maple syrup.

@11:46...that was kind of a snotty response. It makes you look like a jerk. I'm sure, though, that you are a fine human being. That you would never really answer someone in such a fashion face to face.

Right?

I think I would worry more about what falls from the sky than whats being pumped into the ground when it comes to syrup production....

1:59 Your right! "what falls from the sky" another way contamination can spread to crops.
The toxic brew coming from the Marcellus Gas wells when they are flaring travels and lands all over the place, maple trees crops and all.
I think it more of a contamination concern during growing season or after it rains.
They should probably not flare around the Maple trees and food crops.
Maybe they can test the maple syrup, animals that eat the feed grown in the fields, eggs, dairy and produce for the chemicals in Frack fluid and flaring fumes.

consumers can always ask the maple syrup producers how close they are to a well or where they gather the sap, then decide to buy or not.

Nice now the anti everything tree huggers want to kill one of Potter Countys best things! Maple Syrup

3:59 Someone has some serious comprehension issues.

maybe if you saw how your produce and such was handled from the mexicans that you buy from the local supermarkets and owned enough land for them to drill on you might not have such a tissy.

I'm not at all optimistic about the gas industry either but the die-hard anti-gas folks are not going to get any traction by being bullies, just like the anti-wind farm people ruined thier credibility by obnoxiously posting on EVERY unrelated topics. Don't tell me its a fair question to ask because if you really wanted to know you have googled it already. Leave the things that are still good about Potter County alone. These tactics just push people the other way.

What's any of this got to do with offering a "gift" to someone visiting Potter County ? What a great idea someone had.... I can't believe how negative some people are...

11:29 Lets see What do you eat or drink ?? I hope nothing from Calif Texas Alaska they are nuked. No bannanas tuna tomatoes. Nothing from Japan or China. I guess I need to ask what is safe???? nothing. You need to get a life. Oh by the way be careful the water you are drinking now maybe came from a spring or well that a dead deer has been laying in or a rabid coon. I am more concerned about the air I am breathing that it isn't nuked. Those nucelar winds are comming our way.. Get real There is NOT any food or water that is not capable of contamation and not from the gas drillers. I can.t believe all the whinning people do. If you spent as much time loving your family as you do whinning it would be a great world. Oh what about all the hormones that are in all our food and all the persertives in our food that are killing us and making us fat and giving us cancer. They shoot all our food with growth homones to make them grow fast to make big bucks and kill us. Live life for today .
