Route 255 Closed North of DuBois

Clearfield – PennDOT advises drivers that a multi-vehicle accident has both lanes of Route 255 closed at this time, just north of the I-80/101 interchange. Motorists traveling north will be directed to use I-80 eastbound to exit 111 and Route 153 north to the intersection of Route 255 in Penfield. Message boards along I-80 eastbound have been activated to alert drivers to the closure on Route 255.

PennDOT expects to re-open the roadway in the early afternoon hours today. PennDOT will issue updates on the situation as information becomes available.

At least seven people, including three students, were injured when a bus and car collided in Clearfield County on Friday. The crash happened around 8:15 a.m. in Sandy Township on Bee Line Highway at Sher de Lin Road.

Officials at the scene said 42 students were on board the DuBois Area School District bus. It was not clear what school the students attend and district administrators said parents would receive an alert about the crash.

The district's transportation director said the students were part of an 8-bus caravan on their way to a field trip at the Camp Mountain Run Boy Scout Camp. The bus was heading north at the time of the crash.

In addition to the three students, a school bus driver and chaperone were injured. A driver of a maroon-colored car was seriously hurt and was airlifted to a hospital. Crews had to cut the roof off the car to free the driver. The driver of a third vehicle -- a truck that was also involved in the crash -- suffered minor injuries.
