Contaminated Gas Well Brine Dumped By Vandals

State police at DuBois
Progress News--Clearfield
On Friday, someone damaged a gas well belonging to Exco Resources at Well and London roads in Brady Township. Those responsible drove around the gate, opened a brine tank and spilled contaminated water on the ground, and damaged a meter on the tank. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 371-4652.

uh-huh, I got to wonder if "accidents" will now be reported as vandalism. Easier way to get out of things. As many lies and damage these companies have done, I just can't help feeling this way.

wow just hard to believe that there wasn't anyone working at the well site to catch someone doing that.. However it's not cool for someone to directly cause damage to the area and ruin someones property.

And how do we know this wasn't an inside job? This might be their latest ploy to get rid of fracking fluids. Maybe a cheap tank gage is cheaper than driving all that used fracking fluid to an injection well in Ohio. It could have been staged by the drillers.

And I only know one "type of person" who would dump brine fluid into the ground, and knowingly pollute the environment, and that would be the drillers or somebody who is feverishly pro-drilling.

Situations like this only prove that the drillers need to hire a lot more people! Each and every single well site and storage facility should have 24/7 guards guarding stuff like this.

There is no excuse for things like this to happen. It would be too easy to prevent! At the very least, they should have security cameras on every single site.

HIRE FULL TIME GUARDS!

You people are amazing! A criminal destroys someones property, and you blame the victim! I know, with the tunnel vision you are using, the gas companies will always be to blame.

Were we not told from the start that all this "liquid" was harnmless?

Accident, on purpose, or inside job if they were telling the truth then we would have to reason to be alarmed right?

YOU ARE CLUELESS!!!!

10:08, you don't know as a fact (or DO you?) that it was vandals and not the drillers themselves that released the fracking water.

Even if this was a crime, I would hardly call an oil and gas drilling company a "victim" by any stretch of the imagination!

THEY are victimizing US!

THEY are poisoning our whole state, and you are calling them a "victim" because they got a smashed meter or gage?

This industry is known for lying about everything, only a fool would believe this was a crime just because the drillers said so.

The bigger crime is what they are doing to our health and our environment. THEY, the drillers, are the real criminals or terrorists!

Some people may feel that they get what they deserve!

hey been in the situation more than once I've been guilty till I've been proven innocent it's not innocent until proven guilty anymore sweet heart....
The gas company should have to pay for any damage wether it's there fault or not! There fault no one was there to watch over there site... I just find that hard to believe no one was there... smells fishy to me

Yay thats right the citizens have decided to poisen themselfs. Does anyone think that its really vandelism? Are we going to continue to let them take the easy way out? They have so much control over us that we no longer have rights. They can do anything they want including telling storys about their accidential spills.

When the state wide mandatory zoning law Harrisburg has kicks in you will have even less control over your land and our local resources.

You people are absolute idiots!!! I have 2 deep wells on my property and I can tell you no drilling company would dump frack water at the well site. If you fools would go to a drilling site and actually learn what is being done, it may help to open your eyes. Then again, maybe not.......

POTTER COUNTY ATTITUDES

Why is it? Whenever someone tries to brings JOBS to this part of the country, they are villians.
Keep the wages low. That way local businesses can make more profit by paying the lower wage.
Also if I don't own land, WHY should you profit from your land.

In that case 4:26, they must be in bed with the car companies not just our elected officials. You notice how fast our vechicles rust away.
