Residents Express Concerns About New Compressor Station

Citizens Speak Up About Compressor Station Plans

by Beverly Gallagher
East Aurora Advertiser

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) held a public scoping meeting June 6 on National Fuel Gas Supply Corporation’s proposed Northern Access Project. FERC is preparing an environmental assessment (EA) on the impacts of the planned project to help determine whether it’s in the public interest in order to approve it or not. It hosted the event at the Parkdale Elementary School in East Aurora to allow citizens to add their comments to the official record regarding a range of issues being addressed by the EA. Over 100 people participated, including elected officials, citizens’ and environmental groups, effected landowners and other interested parties.

The proposed project would increase National Fuel’s ability to transport Marcellus Shale natural gas from Pennsylvania to northeastern U.S. and Canadian markets. This meeting focused on the planned construction and operation of a new 4,470-horsepower East Aurora Compressor Station to be located off Reiter Road in the Town of Wales (near the Aurora border). However, the overall $62 million project also involves modifications to the existing Concord Compressor Station in Concord, NY, and an expansion of the Ellisburg Compressor Station and Rose Lake interconnection metering facility in northern Potter County, PA. Sounds to me like the "eco nuts" have decided that they don't want anyone drilling in the Marcellus, fracing in the Marcellus, building lines to transport the Marcellus,or even building facilities to distribute the Marcellus gas,but you can bet your *** they are all heating with it or using the electric generated from it.
You "NUTS" can't have it BOTH WAYS.
Either quit using energy or get the **** out of the rest of this worlds way!!!!!

Two yes or no questions. And you cannot answer the two with the same answer.

Yes or no:

1) Will our gas prices go down?

2) Will they ship the majority of PA gas out of the country?
