Titus D. Bender, 78, of Coudersport, formerly of Ephrata, PA

Titus D. Bender, 78, of Coudersport, PA, formerly of Ephrata, PA, died peacefully Thursday, June 9, 2011 at his home following a brief illness.

Born on April 4, 1933 in Colebrook, Lebanon County, PA he was the son of the late Henry A. and Ruth (Hoffer) Bender. On March 10, 1957 he married Darlene Boyer who survives. They celebrated their 54th anniversary on March 10th of this year.

Mr. Bender was employed for 30 years with Ephrata Manufacturing Foundry, retiring on April 28, 1995. He attended Calvary Baptist Church in Coudersport, and was a member of Mohler Church of the Brethren in Ephrata. He served as an usher at both churches. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, doing word search and putting puzzles together, cards and games with his family, and liked to watch Nascar and football games of Penn State and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Ronald Bender of New Holland, PA, and Michael (Shirley) Bender of Strasburg, PA, two daughters, Violet (Ron) Coates of Manheim, PA, and Deborah (Joseph) Kohl, of Denver, PA, 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one brother, Troy (Dolly) Bender of Lititz, PA, four step-sisters, Betty Boyer and Mary Lou Smith, both of Manheim, PA, Patricia (Robert) Youtz of Ephrata, PA, and Ruth (Lelan) Aurick of Lancaster, PA, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by twin grandsons, Adam and Aaron Bender, his parents, four brothers, and five sisters.

Friends are invited to attend Mr. Benders Life Celebration beginning on Sunday, June 12, 2011 with visitation from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at the Fickinger Funeral Home, Coudersport. Friends may also call at the Good Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, Inc. Reamstown, PA, from 9:00am – 11:00am on Wednesday, June 15. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Middle Creek Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Ephrata, PA.

Memorial contributions in Mr. Bender’s memory may be made to Potter County Hospice, Inc., 1001 E. Second Street, Coudersport, PA 16915, or to Calvary Baptist Church, Chestnut Street, Coudersport, PA 16915, or to Mohler Church of the Brethren, Ephrata, PA.
