Two Crashes Injure 3 In Sharon Township Tuesday Afternoon

Two separate car crashes in Sharon Township on Tuesday afternoon kept Shinglehouse Fire & Ambulance crews busy with assistance from Bolivar Ambulance, Wellsville, and Olean Medics.

The first crash occurred at 3:50pm along the Herringtown Road, about 8/10 of a mile from the Eleven Mile intersection.

William M. Sheffer, 20, of Portville, NY, was driving a 1998 Mazda Protege southbound on Herrington Road. His vehicle left the west edge of the roadway and impacted two trees along the road with the front end.

Sheffer was transported to Olean General Hospital by Shinglehouse ambulance with moderate injuries. He was wearing a seatbelt. That investigation is continuing.

The second crash at 5:02 pm on Honeoye Road, about 1/16 of a mile from Scott Hollow Road, injured two women, when their vehicles collided nearly head on.

Stephanie J. Dunn, 31, of Bolivar, NY, was driving a 2004 Chrysler Sebring eastbound on Honeoye Road when the left front corner of her Chrysler impacted with the left front corner of a 1997 Chevrolet Lumina LS driven by Christine F. Morabito, 52, of Wellsville, NY in the westbound lane of the roadway. Airbags were deployed in both vehicles.

Shinglehouse Ambulance transported at least one of the injured women to Olean General Hospital. Police listed Dunn's injuries as unknown severity, and Morabito's injuries as moderate.

Trooper Kocher of PSP Coudersport was assisted at the scene by Shinglehouse Fire & Ambulance, Medic 700 (Wellsville), and Medic 10 (Olean), Bolivar Ambulance and Blacks Towing. This investigation is continuing.
