WELLSBORO -- State police from the Mansfield Barracks are investigating a crash on Route 6 that killed a motorcyclist at about 11 a.m. today.

Tioga County Chief Deputy Coroner James Daugherty pronounced the accident victim dead at the scene of the crash. Emergency workers were unsure at 11:30 whether the accident involved one or two vehicles.

A passing motorist reported the incident at 10:59 a.m. It occurred about seven miles west of Wellsboro in Shippen Township, near the Route 6 bridge at Asaph.

A 23-year-old Galeton man was killed Friday morning when he was thrown from his motorcycle on State Route 6 in Tioga County.

Clinton K. Batterson was killed around 11 a.m. Thursday in a crash with a second vehicle. The crash occurred near the Straight Run Road intersection.

According to state police, Batterson was following a Chevy Nova while traveling east on State Route 6. As the Nova stopped to make a left turn, Batterson’s motorcycle collided with the rear of the Nova.

Batterson was wearing a helmet.

The driver of the Nova, 60-year-old Michael J. Peterson of Wellsboro, was not injured or charged. More...

He is my son's best best friend and they grew up together. He came to our house and visit. Did not realized that the picture i took will be their last picture together. Our thoughts and prayers goes out to his wife and baby including his parents, and sisters. Peace with you Clinton.

We were traveling on route six in a camper and he and his buddy passed us just as we were on the outskirts of Galeton. We came upon the accident about 20 minutes later. This is such a sad sad occurance and to learn that he had a family of his own! Prayers and prayers to him and his family!

Wanted to add that my heart goes out to his friend who was riding with him that day. So sad for him too. We will keep him in our thoughts and prayers too.
