Juanita M. Perry, 93, of Coudersport, PA

Juanita M. Perry “beloved mother and grandmother”

Juanita M. Perry, 93, of Coudersport, died Wednesday, August 24, 2011, in Charles Cole Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit, Coudersport, after an extended illness.

Born August 30, 1917 in Kings Run, she was a daughter of Floyd and Thressie Ford Harrington. On December 30, 1935 in Kings Run, she married Kenneth E. Perry who died on August 1, 2003.

She was a graduate of Shinglehouse High School, class of 1934. For a short period of time, Mrs. Perry was employed by the former Anchor Toy Company in Coudersport and for over 30 years she cleaned both the Presbyterian and Methodist churches in Coudersport.

Mrs. Perry was a longtime member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Coudersport where she served as an elder and a deacon. She was also very active in the Sunday school program and in the women’s organizations of the church. She enjoyed quilting, giving many of the items she made to the Christmas House in Coudersport. She loved to entertain her friends. Her greatest love was her family.

A lifelong area resident, Mrs. Perry lived in the same house in Coudersport from 1935 to 2002. In 2002 she moved to Austin, living there until returning to Coudersport in 2005.

Surviving are a son, F. Paul (Patricia) Perry of Austin; a daughter, Judith A. (David) Frost of Covington; three grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Perry was predeceased by a grandson, Douglas P. Perry; two sisters, Myrtle Weatherill and Myra B. Bledsoe; and a brother, Henry Harrington.

Friends may call on Monday, August 29, 2011 at the First United Presbyterian Church, 402 North Main Street, Coudersport, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at which time funeral services will follow. The Rev. Evon L. McJunkin, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery, Austin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Charles Cole Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit Patient Activity Fund, 1001 East Second Street, Coudersport, PA 16915.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
