Mary Elizabeth Seagren, 89, formerly of 2 South Avenue, Bradford, PA

Mary Elizabeth Seagren, 89, formerly of 2 South Avenue, #410, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at the Bradford Ecumenical Home.

Born November 15, 1921, in Erie, she was the daughter of the late Ivan C. and Marcella E. (McDonald) Luckman. After her graduation in 1940 from Millcreek High School in Erie, the family moved to Bradford, where her father did wartime engineering work for several local companies.

On May 10, 1947 she married Anard S. Seagren, in Farmers Valley; they moved to a hunting cabin in the Allegheny National Forest. After a couple of years they built a house at 845 Bolivar Drive, where she lovingly raised and cared for their four children. She remained there until after Anard died on March 1, 1978. She attended the former Bolivar Drive Church of the Nazarene.

In 1985 Mrs. Seagren graduated from Hobe Sound Bible College in Florida. She invested her care in the lives of other children by working as a nanny for the Michael Rector family and several other area families.

Surviving are four children: three daughters, Ronnie Seagren of Toronto, ON, Jan Van Dellen of Elgin, IL and Susan Bolte of Canton-Salem, NJ, and a son, Gene Seagren of Bradford. She has six grandchildren, Anna, Sam and John Van Dellen, Jake Griffith, and Wendy and Amanda Varner, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was the last of her generation in her family, being preceded in death by her brother, Richard Luckman of Erie, and her husband, his sister, and his four brothers and their spouses.

Friends are invited to attend a celebration of Mary's life this Saturday at 4:00 at the residence of her nephew, Thomas Seagren, at 141 Congress Street. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Bradford Ecumenical Home or the charity of the donor's choice.
