Paul A. Schaaf, 94, of Coudersport, PA

Paul A. Schaaf, 94, of Coudersport, PA died Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at Sweden Valley Manor in Coudersport.

Born on October 19, 1916 in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of George and Florence Wallie Schaaf. On April 8, 1944 in Pittsburgh, PA he married Venetta M. Witter, who died on March 28, 2005.

Mr. Schaaf had resided at Sweden Valley Manor since 2004, moving to the area from Palm Harbor, Florida. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U. S. Navy. He was employed for many years as a civil engineer and field supervisor for Dravo Corp. in Pittsburgh, retiring in 1975.

Surviving are one son, Paul G. (Patricia A.) Schaaf of Verona, PA, one daughter, Rebecca (Jim) Obleski of Austin, PA, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a daughter, Donna Hoyle, one brother, George Schaaf and one sister, Ruth Spitznagle.

At Mr. Schaaf’s request there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held in the spring on 12 Mile Island near Pittsburgh. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Potter County Hospice, Inc. 1001 E. Second St., Coudersport, PA 16915.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Fickinger Funeral Home of Coudersport.
