Alice “Arlene” Chase, 75, of Kansas Branch Road, Duke Center, PA

DUKE CENTER, PA - Alice "Arlene" Chase, 75, of Kansas Branch Road died Sunday (Oct. 2, 2011) at the Bradford Manor following a brief illness.

Born Feb. 29, 1936, in Olean, NY, she was a daughter of the late Albert E. and Hazel Mae McCool Simpson. On May 25, 1985, in the Duke Center United Methodist Church, she married Calvin E. Chase, who survives.

Mrs. Chase was a 1954 graduate of Otto High School in Duke Center and was a lifelong resident of Kansas Branch Road.

She had been employed by Ventron Electronics in Bradford for several years. Later, she was employed by Hounds and Hunting magazine as circulation manager for over 30 years until her retirement in 2010.

Mrs. Chase was a member of the Duke Center United Methodist Church. She loved knitting, sewing, reading and playing cards and board games with her family.

Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Bill (Karen) Snow of Rixford and Marty (Ann) Russell of New Berlin; a daughter, Andrea (Bob) Root of Duke Center, two stepsons, Calvin (Terri) Chase II of Cape Coral FL; and Scott (Tammy) Chase of Randolph, NY; a stepdaughter, Kimbra Chase of Frewsburg, NY; 12 grandchildren, Billy (Jennifer) Snow, Jennifer (J.R.) Smith, Robb Root, Zachary (Liz) Russell, Jordan Russell, Colbey Russell, Kate (Steve Postle) Sweeney, Dr. Adam Sweeney, Nicholas Chase, Chelsea Chase, Danielle Chase and Meghan Chase; and three great-grandchildren, Alec and Ellie Smith and Harper Jean Russell.

Friends may call Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Frame Funeral Home, Eldred, where funeral and committal services will be held Thursday (Oct. 6, 2011) at 11 a.m. The Rev. Gary Sheesley, pastor of the Duke Center United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette.

The family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor's choice.
