Gauld's Corner Store Has Closed

Today is a very sad day for me, it not only represents the end of a very special chapter in my own life but the end of a very significant era as well. I grew up in Coudersport, in fact just 2 blocks from the Corner Store and have memories of shopping here as far back as 5 yrs old. Coming in for penny candy after school ,it was always the best place to get sno-cones (actually the only place) way back then, but still the best, among lots of other things that the store represented about life back in the 60`s, 70`s and 80`s.

I closed the doors today on that store that I loved so much, with much regret and will greatly miss all of my regular morning coffee crowd guys, their families, all the kids, the ball teams and the elderly all of my loyal customers that patronized me every day and truly appreciated what the corner store represented and like me just wanted to hold on to that last little bit of their childhood that meant so much to them, unfortunately it is just a sign of the times as they say, ”out with the old and in with the new.”

My hope is that after almost 5 yrs of serving this community the best that I feel I could, that it wasn`t in vain, and I leave everyone of those people with good memories of that little store on the corner, and when they think about it from time to time, it will be nothing short of good thoughts. Thank you Coudersport for allowing me to serve you. It might have only been for a short time but was a time to remember.

Thank you Wendy for all the great things you have done for our town. The dinners for people who didn't have anyone to spend the holiday with. The benefits which you sponsored and cooked for. Good luck and hope your future is filled with much happiness in whatever you do. You will certainly be missed by many people.
