Minor Injury In 2 Car Crash In Eldred Township

Only one person suffered a minor injury in a two vehicle crash on Route 446 South of Eldred in Eldred Township at 4:49 pm Wednesday afternoon.

Leona J. Reed suffered a minor injury. Five other occupants were uninjured in the crash. All refused transport by ambulance.

State Police said Shaun M. Evens, 31, of Port Allegany was driving a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan southbound on Rt. 446, following a 2002 Dodge Neon driven by Leona J. Reed, 43, of Eldred, PA that was also traveling southbound.

Reed activated her left turn signal and attempted to turn left into her driveway.

Evens attempted to pass her on the left and his right front impacted her left front. Both units came to rest on the northbound shoulder, just south of the driveway at 3770 Rt. 446.

Passengers in Evens' vehicle were Stephanie M. Bell, 28, of Port Allegany, a one year old female, and a three year old male. Robert A Kunselman, 58, of Eldred was a passenger in Reed's car.

Evens was cited for Limitations on Overtaking on Left. All occupants of both vehicles were wearing seat belts or in a child safety seat.

Eldred Boro Ambulance, Eldred Boro and Eldred Township Fire Departments assisted troopers at the scene.

We were almost in a similar accident once trying to turn into our driveway. The problem is, everyone is in such a hurry to get where they are going. Slow down, pay attention, leave earlier or be late. It's not worth getting in an accident!

Why would you pass on the same side that the car was turning! And, better yet IN A NO PASSING ZONE!!!
