Joe PA Lawyers Up/No Further Public Statements

Statement from Scott Paterno on Behalf of His Father

STATE COLLEGE,- The following is a statement from Scott Paterno:

I have been asked by my father to make a brief statement on his behalf.

Like everyone who has watched this story unfold, my father is experiencing a range of powerful emotions. He is absolutely distraught over what happened to the children and their families. He also wants very much to speak publicly and answer questions.

At this stage, however, he has no choice but to be patient and defer to the legal process. He cooperated fully with the Grand Jury and he will continue to cooperate with the investigation as we move forward.

On behalf of my father, I have retained Wick Sollers at the law firm of King and Spalding. My father's desire is for the truth to be uncovered and he will work with his lawyers to that end. Going forward, Mr. Sollers has directed my father, our family and everyone associated with us to make no further public statements and to respond to no media inquiries. We will honor this request. Accordingly, all requests for comments or other information should be directed to Mr. Sollers.

Very sad what Sandusky has done to many many peoples lives! just hard to believe one person could do to destroy so many lives! PSU did not destroy Joe! SANDUSKY ruined Joe's career!

The reality is that we are ALL faced with choices and we ALL have consequences. Joe Paterno may be a super guy and the best coach in the world but HE made a choice to look the other way and this is HIS consequence.

note: it IS always easier to blame someone else but not realistic

That s right Joe should not have been fired, McQueary is the one that should have been, How could a grown man walk away and leave a young boy in the hands of that monster. No excuse there. He is still drawing his salary. Whats wron g with this picture, They chose to ruin a nearly 85 year old man's career after he reported this terrible crime to who he was supposed to. My heart goes out to JoePa and his wife and family. Also to the victims in this mess. i wonder if Sandusky sleeps at night. He should not be allowed to be out on bail..I hope people are watching out for r their young boys.

i agree joepa should not have been fired. he told higher ups, they did nothing, most likely told joepa they would take care of it or look into it. did they!!!! he did his part he threw the ball he reported the others dropped the ball an did nothing

Seriously you people think its ok that he helped cover up child abuse. All of you on this site always freak out when someone child has been assaulted. But now because it involves Joe Paterno you think it is ok and he hsould be able to keep his job. What the hell is wrong with you people. Make up your minds.

Hey have any of you ever thought you had done the right thing and found out you had not. I none of you have ever had the rug pulled from under you when it is found out you have made an error. I realize we are talking about a terrible crime . i just wonder howl all those people feel that were put on the alert about this pervert a lonbg time ago. Have most of them lost their jobs.???? i am sure JoePa is heartsick about the fact that someone he trusted turns out be this monster.

If have your opinion & we have our opinion, Joe SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIRED! ya do not need to be name calling, everyone has a right to their own opinion, after reading the grand jury findings Joe needed to be let go!

11/13 - 9:40am

No one said it was ok!

Fact - Joe told his superiors!

Fact - McQueary actually saw the event! HE walked on by! Why? He wanted a job coaching at PSU!

Joe PA is taking the fall for others lack of morales/humanity and being completly selfish!

The whole scenario is horrible, Sadusky should get nothing less then the death penalty as should all child peds!

Read the Grand Jury FIndings people, quit your dang arguing over this, Joe knew for a long time about Sandusky! Sandusky is the one who brought Joe down! Sandusky has ruined many lives here, he is the blame to all of this and it all is very sad for everyone invovled! Sandusky needs to rot away slowly & he needs to be tormented the way he tormented those boys that trusted in him as well as evryone else that trusted him including JoePa!

I am appalled by all the adults who enabled Sandusky in continuing his predatory sexual behavior by not reporting him to the police immediately. What kind of depraved, cowardly adults behave this way? And why? Did they allow those boys, and no doubt many more who will go unreported, to “take one for the team?” I think so. The good old boys at Penn State were watching each others backs at any cost. They are the lowest kind of men who walk on this earth.

McQueary is a State College native, I have heard that his father and Sandusky were very, very close friends for a long time.
McQueary runs home and tells his dad what he saw - what did he and his dad actually tell Joe Paterno at the time? Did they try to protect the family friend? I believe they did and I don't know that Paterno was told the facts.

This makes me sick. Joe Pa was not the only one involved in this mess.
What about the Welfare Office who questioned this "animal" and left it go and all the others in the area who did nothing to him back when it happened.\
Let's blame a man with an exceptional reputation and ruin his record to make us all feel so much better because no one, NO ONE STEPPED FORWARD TO STOP THIS WORTHLESS PIECE OF CRAP.
I am sorry if you do not get the medal you were up for and wish you could have it. You were not the worst of this mess in my opinion. What about the police and Welfare Office....??????????????

When the Attorney General's office was notified - that is when the suspensions should have taken place. Three freekin years to play with children - come on! jopa did what he was supposed to do. Hey, did they every find the body of the person who disappeared? More to this than what anybody will ever know. Big fat rugs to put things under concerning this issue.

You are right 2:08, they have never found the D.A. who started to investigate Sandusky cause in 1998 he had 40 charges on him for sexual child abuse & to cover it up, they let him retire in 1999 @ PSU! They all KNEW what was going on & covered it all up so they thought get him out of PSU and things will be forgotten! WRONG!
