Penn State Extension Offers Master WellLink Owner Workshop in Emporium, Nov 19.

Penn State Extension will offer a Master Well Owner Volunteer Network training on Saturday, November 19, 2011, at the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) Bureau of Forestry Office Conference Room in Emporium, PA.

Penn State Extension will offer a Master Well Owner Volunteer Network training on Saturday, November 19, 2011, at the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) Bureau of Forestry Office Conference Room in Emporium, PA. The DCNR Office is located at 258 Sizerville Road. The workshop will last from 9 am to 12:30. The workshop is designed to help people maintain the quality of water in their private water supply.

Local Extension Educator, Jim Clark, completed a research project testing 50 private water wells in Cameron County this past summer and will give the combined results of that project and explain how to interpret a water test report from 9 to 10 AM. At 10AM the Master Well Owner training will continue and will feature Penn State Extension Water Specialist, Bryan Swistock and Judy Bear, from the Coudersport Well Drilling Company. Participants can pre-register for just the 9 to 10 AM program or stay until 12:30 and become a certified Master Well Owner through Penn State Extension. Certified volunteers are asked to share what they have learned with at least 50 people, including other well owners, family members, and/or friends, over the next two years. Last year over 440 volunteers reported contacts with over 2,000 private water well owners throughout Pennsylvania.

The workshop is free of charge, but participants are asked to pre-register with Jim Clark at jac20@psu.edu or by calling the McKean County Extension Office at 814-887-5613. Sponsors for this event include the Cameron County Extension Office, Headwaters RC&D Sinnemahoning Stakeholders Group, DCNR, and Penn State Extension.

Penn State is committed to affirmative action, equal opportunity, and the diversity of its workforce.
