That is a very good looking scoreboard!

Should there have been an S on Visitor? Just wondering?

To post 11:15 p.m.

The game is for the kids, so if the TEAM was doing so well, why not give all of the players a chance to be part of something so spectacular! Something we have not seen for a very long time in Port! All of the Port athletes are doing so well this year in all of the sports events! Congratulation to all of them!

oh please not everyone deserves to play i'm sure there are kids on that team that are just out for the glory.. Happens at every school when something looks promising.. Good job to the starters... Maybe we could pray for the ones that aren't worthy to play so that maybe they can get in..

Congrats Port A you deserve it!

Brockway... Again next week ? How many time does Port have to beat them ?

1 more time, 12:58, lol!

Congratulations to ALL the boys on the team! It doesn't matter if you start or not, everyone practices all week to prepare. Anyone who has played football knows who the starters practice on, so good job first, second and third string!

HEY 12;08 YOUR A FREAKIN MORON....
THEY ALL PRACTICE ALL WEEK LONG THE SAME SO THEY DESERVE TO PLAY NO MATTER IF YOUR 1ST 2ND OR THIRD STRING.

Anonymous said...

NO THEY DON'T. It's freakin football. A lot of these kids practice all year long whether it's lifting or working out or whatever. That is why some are A LOT better than others. If you would put a few of these 2nd, 3rd stringers in against other teams starters at this level they would most definetely get hurt. And oh, by the way, this is the district playoffs, not a beginning of the year scrimmage!

well if it werent for these second or third string players then we wouldnt have a team we would be like Johnsonburg and have to forfeit or not even haqve a football season or the starters wouldnt have anyone to practice against so they stay sharp besides in my opinionj if you have to hide behind anonomous its not worth a grain of salt what you think

Wow just reading some of these jerks really makes me think about high school sports. How about you pray for yourself instead of the kids. You are winning by alot put the kids in and let them play a little there's no harm in doing so. A shutout would of been nice but bottom line a win is a win no matter how it came. Let's look at reality here what Port is doing is great and I truely hope they go far but they're not going too and no matter how many records he breaks (qb) or all the stats he puts up he's not going to Penn State or any other top college like everybody in town thinks. He's not as good as Jimmy was. Stats are nice but look who he is playing against and look when the stats are coming beating up on teams and throwing the ball all over the field when you are up by 30 is classless. It's not the kids fault its the coaches on the team and growing up with some of them I would of thought different of them.

8:36... Dawg, don`t choke on those sour grapes !

He's not going to PSU? i think he was a recruiting trip there a few weeks ago? your not a college scout so keep your mouth shut. cant ppl just congratulate a kid for doing so well?

Well said. Yes, it is only high school sports, however, I can't understand how adults continue to chastize kids who have worked their butts off to be good.
I wish the players and coaches of Port A all the best in the playoffs, especially knowing they get next to no fan support from their town. No matter the success of the small town, there's always some parents who want to bring down the coaches. Having once coached, I can only imagine the time these men put into making sure they put the best team out on the field. As for the kids playing the game, Port fans should congratulate and support instead of constantly trying to bring them down.

I have a problem with those of you who say the 2nd and 3rd string should not have played. Well, how can they get better standing on the sideline. The got scored on because they don't get the instruction the starters get. I thought a coaches job was to teach all the kids on the team how to play. That isn't happening for the 2nd and 3rd string. Some of those kids have to stand on the sidelines at practice. What would you do if the coach told your son, when he lined up to practice offense, "Not you, you'll never make an offensive lineman." Yeah, I know for a fact a coach said that to one of those boys. The coaches knew in August, before the first practice, who the starters were going to be. Most of them the juniors. They are building the team around the QB. The underclassmen are getting the experience this year, with just a few of the seniors mixed in, so that the QB has another stellar year next year. Not taking anything away from the QB, he has loads of talent and I hope he goes somewhere with it after highschool. Those of you who complain they shouldn't have put the 2nd or 3rd string in, SHUT UP! That's the only time they get to play!! They deserve the glory too. They go to practice, work hard, and are the "dummys" as they say, for the starters. Its a name game, I don't care what anyone says. Always has been, always will be.

Dear Port Allegany fans/parents:

The HS Football team in your town is having a great season. Maybe you can find it in you to support the players/coaches. I'm sure you can find something else to complain about. It wouldn't hurt for most of you to truly learn the game of football and understand what the team is trying to do.

Thank you

So the coaches that put "boat loads" of time into creating a winning team only do that to play the right names? You must be nuts! The coaches put the guys in the game that can help the team win. Crawl out from underneath that rock you're living under and make something of yourself instead of complaining that you don't have the right name. The kid who you referred to as never being an offensive lineman can work his but off and if he can help the team win, I'll bet you he will play. Plus, where are these kids in the off-season? Are they trying to get better lifting weights and doing agilities? You don't get better by just putting in time August through November. You obviously have no clue what it takes to be good at any aspect of life. Get real!

As we all know, the QB is the coaches son. For him to succeed, the best players need to be on the field with him, not the "right" names. I coached for many years, years with my kid on the team & years without. I always wanted his team to do well. I was smart enough to know best players play if the team is going to win. Thats doesn't mean subs don't play. These coaches obviously put the best players on the field & they get the subs in when the time is right. For the subs(2nd & 3rd string)You are as much a part of the team as the starters. We must remember also, there is no JV team. That is another topic for some other time.

YOU ROCK GATORS!!
Proud of you.
Good luck with Brockway, (again)

Did anybody say they shouldn't play? If so I missed it. Point is, it's a varsity sport, not little League or one of the other community league sports. It's not equal playing time & shouldn't be. If everybody can get in great but if not, hopefully next game.
