ARMED STANDOFF CLOSES ROADS IN ORMSBY AREA

An armed standoff in the Ormsby area of McKean County has closed roads into the area since the middle of Saturday afternoon, when several Fire Departments were called out to send Fire Police to enforce that closure.

Olean radio WVTT posted a confirmation about a half-hour ago that State Police and multiple police agencies, including a State Police SERT team, are on scene. One man is reported to have barricaded himself in a home. At 7:30 pm, police reported that there have been no injuries.

More information is promised by State Police at Kane as the situation develops.

I believe that it was a dispute between father and son. The son broke the fathers hand. The son locked himself in his own home ALONE but was possibly suicidal. From what I understand, the son was mentally unstable so the authorities took all necessary precautions to ensure everyone's safety. Praying that everyone is safe.

Can anyone explain why State Police blocked roads 5 miles surrounding Ormsby? this appears to be an overkill which affected a number of people who couldn't get home- no exceptions. I was one of those affected and sure would like to know the answer to this.

well 8:02, im sure next time when something of this magnitude happens, they will make sure not to inconvenience you when trying to keep safe the people involved and in the surrounding areas. I mean, I would mind being shot just so you could get home...
