Church Reports Possible SCAM

Church Reports Possible SCAM

Hi Jim,

We got a call today from a Jeff Spence saying he was broken down in Roulette, and asked for help to buy a bus ticket to Lansing, MI. He said he was at an Amber xxxxx's house. I smelled a rat as he couldn’t answer even basic questions when I was attempting to validate his story. He said he was coming from Buffalo by way of Pittsburgh (!!). He was all over the map.

The call back number he gave me was not correct. When I called back, it was another party all together and not Amber xxxxx's residence. The lady at that number then got a call from another church asking for the same person, Amber xxxxxx to verify the same story from what is probably the same man. The lady at that number called me back to tell me about that, saying this must be a scam.

Maybe you would want to consider posting a warning about it. I think we would prefer not to have our church name mentioned though.

Scammers are always trying new ways you just have to be one step ahead. I hope this doesn't hurt the ones that really need help!

Sure is a scammer, but hes pretty dang stupid too. Just from that alone he probably would be someone who had little school education in the very least, and if so, probably cant find a job to save him =/. Sorry dude, but if ur trying to make it in this world, scamming isnt the way to go. Going and getting education so you can actually get a decent job is the way to do it. Seriously. (yeh yeh i know...he probably doesnt have a computer either if hes attempting such a half assed scam...)

I didnt get past 10TH grade and I have always worked... I held one job in construction for 14 years and then I drove tractor trailer for 9 ans a half years... now I enjoy retirement and my grand-daughter the problem is that now a days alot alot of people cant find work or a job that pays well... also todays youngher people folks are lazy and just want a hand out.... I guess my point is that regardless of your education level or other obsticles we must face in live.. with hard work and effort one can suceed.....
