Fire Marshal Investigating Butter Creek Road Fire

Tracey Coyle-TAC Images

A structure fire that destroyed a residence on Butter Creek Road in Oswayo Township Thursday night is under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal Unit.

Firefighters responded to the 8:20 pm alarm called in by a neighbor who reported the seasonal residence up the road is on fire, that they could see smoke and flames.

The residence located at 3084 Butter Creek Road and owned by Lori M. Miller, of Harrisburg, PA, was fully involved by the time the first firefighters arrived. The house was completely destroyed with damages estimated to exceed $150,000.

No one was at the residence and no injuries to any of the fire personnel on scene were reported.

PSP Fire Marshal David A. Surra was assisted at the scene of the investigation by the PSP Bureau of Emergency Services K-9 Unit, PSP Coudersport Patrol Unit members, and Fire Chiefs from the Shinglehouse Fire Department.

In addition to the fire which destroyed the residence, investigators noted damage to a wooden door on a shed which sat on the property, creating suspicion that a burglary may have occurred.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Pennsylvania State Police at Emporium, at 814-486-3321 or PSP Coudersport at 814-274-8690.
