Frederick L. Smith, Sr., 59, of 18412 Route 6 Smethport, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2011 at his residence,

Born May 10, 1952, in Niagara Falls, NY, he was a son of the late Frederick L.. and Ramona (Lathrop) Smith.

He attended Smethport High School.

Prior to his disabillity, Mr. Smith worked as a truck driver, as well as working as a mechanic for several local garages.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and in his spare time he raised animals, collected coins, raced stock cars and bought and sold items from yard sales.

He is survived by his stepmother, Dorothy Smith of Eldred, who raised him, three daughters, Vicky J.(Mike) Campogiani and Cheyanne (Donald Reed) Smith of Bradford and Bobbie J. Smith of Smethport; three sons Frederick L. Smith, Jr. of Bradford , Jeremiah Smith of Smethport and Shawn; a sister, Lori Heller of Eldred; two brothers, James Smith and Gary Smith, both of Eldred; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father and mother, he was preceded in death by a son, Gary Smith, who passed away in February 2004.

Friends are invited to call from 3-5 PM, Tuesday December 27, 2011 in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., South Avenue, where funeral services will be held at 5 PM with Rev. Raymond Gramata, pastor of St. Bernard Church, officiating. Burial will be in Norwich Cemetery. Memorial contributions, if desired, can be made to the McKean County SPCA or the charity of the donor's choice.
