Kane House Fire Displaces Family Thursday Night

A house fire Thursday night at 629 Park Avenue
in Kane continues to remain under investigation.

'The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal Unit, Kane Borough Police Dept., and officers of the Kane Fire Department investigated the origin and cause of a fire that damaged a 2 story wood frame residential dwelling on Park Avenue and displaced a family of five.

Barbara Floyd, 51, Gabrielle Floyd, 20, and three boys, ages 5, 6, and 8, escaped the 11:50 pm fire without injury. The Red Cross assisted the residents at the scene.

Damage from the blaze is estimated at $30,000. The building is owned by John Capello of Kane, PA, and was rented to the Floyd family.

Radio reports from the scene indicated heavy smoke pouring from the 2nd floor of the building on arrival of the first firefighters last night. Firefighters were able to attack the fire inside the building and apparently knocked it down quickly from the radio communications monitored.

Sheffield was called and sent a truck and crew to Kane and the electric company was called to disconnect power to the building.
