Minor Injury In First Fork Road Crash Last Saturday

An Austin driver sustained only a minor injury in a hit & run crash at 3:30 am last Saturday on First Fork Road in Summit Township, but he faces major traffic citations as a result.

Jason A. Ayers, 33, of Austin, PA, was driving a 1993 Ford Aerostar southbound on First Fork Road when he fell asleep as he approached a right curve in the roadway. His vehicle crossed into the northbound lane and then struck an embankment off the east side of the roadway with it's left front bumper. The vehicle continued impacting with the embankment and struck a tree with the left rear bumper. It then hit and ran over a traffic sign, coming to rest off the east side of the roadway partway in the berm and on the embankment.

State Trooper Derek C. Weaver, in a news release said, Ayers will be charged with Careless Driving; Registration & Certificate of Title Required; Accidents Involving Damage To Unattended Vehicle or Property; Operation of Vehicle Without Official Certificate Of Inspection; and Required Financial Responsibility.
