Posters Wanted for Keystone Coldwater Conference

Posters Wanted for Keystone Coldwater Conference

HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Pennsylvania Council of Trout Unlimited is seeking posters to be displayed at the Keystone Coldwater Conference, which will be held Feb. 24-25 at the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel in State College, Pa.

“This is a great opportunity to showcase your organization efforts to protect our coldwater resources,” said Samantha Kutskel, a coldwater resource specialist with the Coldwater Heritage Partnership, a collaborative effort between the Fish and Boat Commission, Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Foundation for Pennsylvania Watersheds and Pennsylvania Trout Unlimited.

Trout Unlimited is hosting the 2012 conference, titled “Responsible Land Use: Protecting Habitat and Native Species.” Posters are invited from watershed organizations, Trout Unlimited chapters, students, and any other groups which have projects to share with the conference participants. There is no charge for posters, which should be no larger than 4’ by 5’. Easels will be provided to display the posters.

Poster submissions will be accepted until December 16. Poster presenters do not receive free registration, and must register for the conference.

The Coldwater Heritage Partnership provides leadership, coordination, technical assistance, and funding support for the evaluation, conservation and protection of Pennsylvania's coldwater streams. While Pennsylvania has over 83,000 miles of streams, only 25 percent are considered high-quality coldwater fisheries. Of that, less than 2 percent are designated as highly productive waters that contain naturally reproducing wild trout. The partnership’s primary focus is to foster protection and improvement of these streams and their watersheds.
