Six Year Old Thinks Of Others At Christmas

From Our Mail

I’m not sure if you will post this but it brought great joy and tears.

I was reading a post by a friend and I got up and walked away from the computer for a few minutes. My children were being nosy and they hollered to me, so I came back into the living room and asked what all the commotion was about.

My oldest said read this and tell me if I read it right.

I read it to myself and asked him what he thought he had read?

My youngest who is six said mommy a family has no presents for there children for Christmas morning.

I said well times are tough. My six year old said they have a little boy my age I will give a present of mine away so that he can have a gift on Christmas morning. Not only did he just randomly go to the tree and take a gift from underneath it, he had been saving money, and he is going shopping to buy a couple of gifts for the children.

What was I suppose to say to him, that he couldn’t give a gift away.

I said do you really want to do this? He said yes mommy I really do because we are both six years old, both boys and we probably like the same things.

So the next day he came home from school and said Mommy I was asked what the meaning of Christmas meant to me and to no surprise my little guy said it’s the gift of giving not receiving. I don’t know any other little boy that would do this. He told me that was going to be his mission every Christmas is to help one child have at least one gift on Christmas Day.

By all means we are not rich and we struggle just like a lot of people.

This just means so much to him and it makes me cry to know that at six years old he is trying to make a difference in someone's life. The best part is we don’t know the name of the family and he is just giving away a present. I want to remain anonymous and I’m not out for any kind of recognition what so ever.

Your little boy seems to be a wonderful child and it sounds to me that you are doing a great job at raising him right and teaching him the true meaning of Christmas. It is to celebrate the birth of Jesus and to do for others!! God bless you, your precious son, and your family this Christmas season and always.

This is very heart touching, how we all can learn from a 6yr old child, God will bless this little guy, he has a very senisitive spirit, Christmas should always be giving & not recieving & it makes me want to give more than to recieve after reading this. God bless this family!

Your story touched me and hit close to home. I, too, was so very proud of my children recently as I watched them clean out their rooms to give all the clothes and toys they "don't really need" as they would say, to a family who does need it. My kids are also young and it made me proud to watch them do for others instead of being selfish.

Just think if every child would do that in every little town.....NO children would have to face Christmas morning with nothing under the tree. What a wonderful little boy. And remember "Jesus Is The Reason."
