Dennis E. McClain, 59, of Slack Hollow Road, Eldred, PA

ELDRED, PA - Dennis E. McClain, 59, of Slack Hollow Road died Tuesday (Jan. 17, 2012) at St. Vincent Hospital, Erie, following a brief illness.

Born April 28, 1952, in Olean, NY, he was the son of Merle E. and Dorothy Mae Burrows McClain.

Mr. McClain was a 1970 graduate of Otto-Eldred High School and later attended Jamestown Community College in Olean.

A lifelong resident of Slack Hollow, he was employed at Spring Hill Dairy in Portville, NY, while he was in high school. He later worked along with his father in McClain's Auto Repair Shop on Slack Hollow. He was then employed at Hysol Corp. in Olean - which later became the Henkel Corp. - for 38 years, retiring in 2011 as the technical specialist senior of microelectronics powders.

He was a lifelong member and held several offices at the Eldred Borough Volunteer Fire Department. He was a past Eldred Borough Ambulance captain, and was an EMT for 25 years. He was a past EMT instructor, and was a member of the Tri-County Firefighters Association. He was also a past member of the Otto Township Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Service, and was a social member at American Legion Post #887, Eldred.

Surviving, in addition to his mother of Eldred, are three sons, Scott McClain, Todd McClain and Jared McClain, all of Eldred; two daughters, Amy McClain of Portville, and Brittany McClain, attending Mansfield University; and nine grandchildren.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Friday at the Frame Funeral Home where funeral and committal services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday (Jan. 21, 2012) with the Rev. Jay Tennies officiating.

Burial will follow in Lamphier Cemetery, Eldred.

The family requests memorials be made to the Eldred or Otto fire departments or ambulance funds, or the McKean County SPCA.
