Knit Lace Shawl Workshop with Linda Voss Plummer at Yarn at Olga's Saturday

Knit Lace Shawl Workshop with Linda Voss Plummer at Yarn at Olga's

Saturday, January 21
1:00pm until 3:30pm

A knit lace shawl, Wrap Yourself in Luxury, will be featured in the Winter Edition of Vogue’s Knit Simple magazine. Designed by Linda Voss Plummer of Galeton, Pa., it features a traditional Shetland shawl shape enhanced by simple lace. Linda has taught for 35 years, locally and nationally, and coordinated public art projects. She also designs for yarn companies and publications.

Plummer will be conducting a two-session workshop on this design from 1-3 pm on Saturday, Jan. 7, 1-3 pm on Saturday, Jan. 14, at Yarn at Olga’s, 107 East 2nd Street, Coudersport, Pa. This shawl is accessible to anyone who can cast on, knit and purl! The price for the two sessions is $55. To sign up for the Wrap Yourself in Luxury workshop, please call (814) 260-9966 or email jsnyder@eggdecorator.com.

Plummer feels privileged to collaborate with Olga Snyder, a gifted knitter and designer in her own right, on this project. Workshop attendees are encouraged to have lunch at Olga Gallery, Café, & Bistro at 4 East 2nd Street, Coudersport before the workshops.

Plummer has always spent time in the Pennsylvania Wilds and now lives here permanently. She finds inspiration every day in the natural beauty of the hills and streams and stimulation from all the artisans working in the area.

Artist’s Statement:

One of the joys of teaching and knitting has been to participate in the warmth of knitting with others and experience its healing and supportive powers.

I can’t remember when I didn’t knit. I have taught locally and regionally and have been fortunate to study with nationally and internationally recognized knitters. I love to lead students to the joy of knitting and then watch them become independent knitters, helping them create their own designs and make decisions about how they want to adapt patterns My special passions are cables, lace and two color knitting such as Fair Isle and Scandinavian patterns.

I also spin, weave and quilt but if, perish the thought; I had to decide on one activity, it would be knitting.
