Wish there was something like this offered in Coudersport or close by. I took in a stray/abandon cat a couple months ago so he wouldn't freeze outside and haven't had the extra money to get him fixed. Was told it would be close to 250 - 300 since he would be a new patient there.

There may be one soon.

@11:00 P.M. I know what you mean. I did the same for 4 abandonded kittens that I found in my shed. I found a home for one, but, the rest are mine, now. It is a ways to travel from Coudersport, but, if you are able to, the Mansfield Veterinary Clinic will fix a male for $50.00 and a female for $85.00. I just got all three of them done. AND it was the first time I took ANY pets to the clinic. I hate to take away from local business, but, the cost sometimes dictates what one can and can't do. If you are able to travel the distance, it could be worth looking into. The number is (570)662-3844 and they may be booked for a while. Hope that helps you out. Good for you helping out a stray. They make the most loving pets.

11:00 pm whoever quoted you that price is a criminal. I paid 80bucks in Smethport to get our male cat neutered.

I use Veterinary Care of Cuba by McDonals'd and they are absolutely wonderful there. It is a bit of a drive, but the prices there are extremely reasonable and Dr. Kernahan and the staff are so wonderful. I don't trust my pets to anyone but them.

From what I have been told, the moment you feed or touch a stray cat it legally becomes your responsibility

The Potter County SPCA gonna do the same thing? Oh thats right, that money hasn't been spent yet to build it.

The price was so high because the cat would be a new patient there and they would want to do all the other tests before they fix him...I think it's ridiculous too. No one wants to help with the abandon/stray kittens and cats around here, it's sad.
If the one poster mentioning wellsboro was talking about dr Kreger I will have to give him a try because he is amazing, if I could I would take all my cats there all of the time...he is worth the extra cost. The drive just doesnt always work in with work hours.

4:56 >>> LOL That's sooooooo FUNNY!! What country have you recently moved from??

@4;56 ; It amazes me that anyone can think of a poor abandoned animal situation as "sooooooo FUNNY!!"
These poor animals did not ask to be born let alone abandoned. You mock someone who is trying to find a solution to getting a better price so she or he can afford to keep the animal. I remember the old saying my parents taught me oh so long ago and it fits so nicely ,"if you can't say something nice ,don't say anything at all" you know it really BITES! when even a little kid could tell you that.
As for 11;00 pm; you are obviously a loving and caring person to take in a stray and care for it. Try calling" Teachers pet rescue" in Coudersport. They may be able to give you information on getting your kitty fixed. They are amazing people who really care. To all the other posts on this blog so far, you show compassion for animals by giving good advice-keep up the good work. It makes reading Solom's Words a nice place to visit. * Happy Birthday Solom's Word , you are the sunshine of my day. Thanks Jim
