Police Say Coudersport Driver Was DUI

A Coudersport driver was taken into custody after police determined he was under the influence of alcohol after a traffic stop for improper display of license registration plates.

Kenneth J. Ruter, 51, of 600 Marvin Hill Road, Coudersport, PA, was stopped by State Police on Thursday at 1:08 am on Rt. 6 at the intersection of Route 872 in Coudersport Boro.

Trooper Mark VanVolkenburg said Ruter was taken into custody and later released pending criminal charges.

This guy must have been lost. I would never believe that anyone in the great town of Coudersport would break the law in this manner. I didn't even think Coudersport had a dart league. Must have been coming from Austin.

wow there are a lot of stupid people out there! REALLY DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE IS A CRIME.. If you know your going out find a driver save a life.
See CDL drivers aren't the only people that should be fined with a max fine.... I wonder how many of these people carry one..

Troopers are pulling folks over and using the excuse they have snow on their license plates. Drivers should be aware of the snow built up so the PSP won't harass drivers, just to get a DUI arrest under their belts.

I personally know a guy who this happened too, just getting off work coming East on Rt 6 and was pulled over because he had some snow on his plate. After the trooper interrogated him, the trooper told him he had snow on his plate, and wiped it off for him. My friend got out of the car and saw that there was no snow OR hand marks from where the trooper apparently wiped it off for him. So just an FYI if you go out for a few pints, be mindful of the snow on your license plate.

If this driver would have killed a kid or a family. Then people would be saying where were the State Police. Why were they not doing there job. I thank the State Police for making the roads safer for my son and daughter to drive on.

It is illegal to have snow (dirt, mud)covering your plate. You are to have the snow off your hood, roof and trunk also.

Why arent they pulling over tractor trailers with snow chunks coming off the top of the trailers then??? before the ice/snow chunks go through someones windshield.
