Anyone connected with this deserves great credit. But let's face the facts. The only way it was even launched was with a taxpayer grant to pay the director and isn't that a one-year deal? What happens after that? Good luck to the people who are trying to make this happen. I hope it succeeds without having to become yet another taxpayer supported service. Thank you to the people who are trying to make it work.

More kids need to take advantage of this club. It is fantastic! My son loves it. He gets lots of physical activity, they watch movies, make crafts, homework help...better than sitting in front of the TV or video games! And it's for kids of all ages, including teens!

This is not a taxpayer funded organization. It's funded through grants, donations, club fundraising, and membership dues.

I'll correct myself regarding the grant statement. The club does receive a state grant but also grants from other organizations.

I agree with 10:51 in giving everyone involved with this a pat on the back but what happens when a year is up? Is this a one time grant or does it keep getting funded by the taxpayers and who votes on using taxpayer money for this? If there are only a few kids from Coudersport using this as a place to go so their parents do not have to arrange to watch them after school then I have to ask if it is a good use of our taxpayer money?

I'd rather my tax dollars go to this then to, say ... "teaching kids on how to have sex and not have your parents find out".

That grant was reported at $45,000 and they have about 5 kids coming to this. That's $9,000 per kid. Pretty expensive for a couple hours a day of after school care.

... and you thought you were making out pretty good on you per/acre gas lease.

Go to the meeting and actually find out what is going on.

They got a taxpayer bailout just to keep this from failing and the director is making more than twice the salary that I make. I don't have to go to a meeting to learn that and besides that I have to work during the day. Who voted on this bailout?
