Rita T. Bishop, 94, Eldred, PA

ELDRED, PA - Rita T. Bishop, 94, passed away Thursday (Jan. 12, 2012) at the Bradford Manor following a brief illness.

Born Nov. 7, 1917, in Olean, NY, she was a daughter of Dennis and Margaret McAuliffe Keating. On May 10, 1950, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Olean, she married Thurman H. Bishop who preceded her in death on April 20, 1981.

Mrs. Bishop was a 1935 graduate of Olean (NY) High School and had resided in Eldred since 1953. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Bishop was a member of St. Raphael's Church in Eldred and a past-member and president of the Eldred PTO. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, and reading, as well as traveling with her husband.

Surviving are a son, Paul (Linda) Bishop of Allegany, NY; two daughters, Marjorie (Terry) Norton of Eldred and Elaine Bishop of Eldred; six grandchildren, Major Corey (Jessica) Norton of Sanford, NC, Lesley (Rob) Lanphear, of Richmond, VA, Kyle (Katie) Norton of Parkville, MD, Elliot Norton of Andover, MA, Doug Bishop of Parkville, MD, and Maddie Bishop of Olean; as well as five great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Dennis Keating; five sisters, Margaret Foley, Marie Cornell, Dorothy Scarlato, Magdalene Roehrig and Betty Libby.

Friends may call on Sunday, Jan. 15 at the Frame Funeral Home in Eldred from 3 to 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday (Jan. 16, 2012) at 11 a.m. at St. Raphael's Church in Eldred with the Father James Vacco, pastor of the St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany, NY, as celebrant.

Burial will follow in St. Raphael's Cemetery, Eldred.

The Rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Raphael's Church Building Fund; or to the American Cancer Society.
