Catherine R. "Cookie" Stives, 99, formerly of 351 Main St., Bolivar, NY

BOLIVAR, NY - Catherine R. "Cookie" Stives, 99, formerly of 351 Main St., passed away Tuesday (Jan. 31, 2012) in the Wellsville Manor Care Center following a brief illness.

Born Aug. 28, 1912, in Rixford, Pa., she was the daughter of Thomas and Hazel Clark. She married Harold R. "Stubby" Stives on Oct. 11, 1930, in Rixford, Pa. He preceded her in death in 1995.

Catherine was a cook at Pinewood Diner in Portville. She was employed in the Cafeteria Department of Bolivar Central School and was a housekeeper for various families in the Bolivar area.

She was a lifetime member of the Bolivar Fireman's Auxiliary.

Surviving are seven children, Donald (Doris) Stives of Bolivar, Beverly (Fred) Murray of Bolivar, William Stives of Wellsville, Susan Stives of Bolivar, Roger (Debbie) Stives of Bolivar, Darlene (Russ) Militello of California, Valerie (Fred) Galbreath of Bolivar; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and three daughters-in-law, Sue Stives of Bolivar, Barb Stives of Bolivar, and Jeannie Stives of Bolivar.

She was preceded in death by five children, Harold L. Stives, Gerald Stives, Cecelia "Twink" Stives, Larry Stives and Stuart Stives.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Schaffner Funeral Home Inc., Bolivar, at which time funeral and committal services will be held. Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Bolivar.
