Don't Be Taken By This Scam

The call came from a number (530)419-2193. This is a scam! Do not send money!!
A Coudersport resident received this call today*****
I received a call at work today from a Mark Robinson(a very heavy Indian accent). He stated he was affiliated with the Brook's Associates Law Firm. He told me that I had a lawsuit filed against me and he needed my lawyer's contact information to speed the process along. I told him I didn't have a lawyer. He then asked me if I was aware of the lawsuit. I said no. He stated he would transfer me to a Senior Adviser, who could tell me what the lawsuit was about. I told him I was at work and they would have to call me back....He interrupted and told me if I didn't talk to this adviser that I would be arrested and then I couldn't get any help. When he tried to transfer me the line went directly to a dial tone. He then called back on my work line and very rudely declared that I hung up the phone in his face! I told him I did not and he said alright I will transfer you again, and again the dial tone. The third time he tried to call my boss answered the phone and told him that I was not allowed personal calls at work, I was on the clock and not to call back again. I then got a voicemail on my cell phone. The same man, and the same story. On my break I called the number back to find out what this was all about.....at that point David Jones answered(also with a very heavy accent-probably the same man) with a, "Hello". Most companies that I know of announce themselves promptly....1st red flag. I was told that there was a lawsuit against me, that I would be arrested first thing on Monday morning, and that I would be charged with 3 felonies. He then read me an affidavit. I asked what company was filing this against me? I was told a federal bank that runs hundreds of different loan companies with different names. He asked me if I was intending to defraud this company by not paying them. I said no and I didn't know what he was even talking about. He told me I owed $962.and some change in interest and court fees. I then asked for the number to the company that I supposedly owed this money to and Mr. Jones stated," They don't want your money now." 2nd red flag. I then said wait a minute, these people want me arrested and are taking me to court over money I owe them but now they don't want it....He then told me he could stop the whole process by submitting an application to the company but that I needed to send $300 today for an application fee. 3rd red flag! I told him I didn't have $300 and if I did I would've paid whoever it was claiming I owed money in the first place and that I guess they would have to arrest me then.....I got an abrupt end to the call(hang up). The call came from a number (530)419-2193. This is a scam! Do not send money!! I googled the number and was presented with a list of articles about this same men, same story, and same scam. There is also a youtube audio of the same men, same story. I have no idea how they got my work info or my cell phone number! I wanted to get this info out to people in the area that this is happening and hopefully prevent someone who is maybe a little more timid than I am from being taken advantage of.

My husband got a call today as we have been multiple times a day for the past few months from a restricted caller and this guy said his name was Mr. David Connor and he is a private investigator from outside our county. Said he has sealed documents attached to my husbands name and social security number that he is being summoned. Didn't say summoned to what. Gave me this number ((877-495-3767)) and a claim number said to call them for m ore information. Me being his wife if I have his SS# they should be able to give me some information on this matter. I asked what it was about he said "like I said it is sealed you need to call this number". Told me he is sorry for being the bearer of bad news and he hopes we get this matter cleared up soon.

I then went to
http://www.customtollfree.com/toll-free-reverse-lookup/8774953767
and it says this number belongs to Level 3 communications which is a cable company in a town near where we live...

Needless to say we wont be calling back but am sure we will be getting more calls from this number as everyone else has...

Legit legal action is never taken with a phone call. Period.

I have gotten Many calls on my cell phone for a Ashley Connors. I do not know who this is and I do not give my cell phone number to only my family. It is a person with broken English and if I or my Lawyer does not contact them they wish me bad luck. Some days they call me 10 times. I really do not know what to do about this.It sounds like an India accent also. I called the number back and it gets disconnected. Not a number.

Why would a person even continue such a conversation? Obviously, this wasn;t right from the beginning, so why pursue it?

I'd say you'd really have to be some sort of weinerschnitzel to fall for something like this.

Wow 1:07 you really unloaded some serious invective on that dude.

These people were calling me as well. They called my work and my moms house. How they get this information I do not know. They threatened to come kill me if I did not comply.
I did some research on these people and found they are people in Pakistan getting VOIP numbers that look like US numbers.
Just when I thought they were going to leave me alone they started up again. Your best bet would be to change your phone numbers.

ffs get on the no call list.... It takes 30 seconds and these scam calls will stop.

First clue should have been when they forewarned you they were coming to arrest you on Monday. Since when the authorities give the heads up on an arrest? If the dude's from India (where cow's are sacred) just tell him for every time he calls you again you're going to eat a hamburger. That should shut him down.

I received one of these calls a week or so ago. I got another call today and told them that I had already contacted the state police regarding them calling me and that I was reporting this call as well. They hung up on me. Then they called my other phone line 10 seconds after that first call and when I answered he started his whole talk. I said you just called me on my other phone and I told you I was calling the state police to report you again. I have them on the other line you just called before, would you like to speak to them? He hung up.

I got the call and after I read these comments I also told the guy he was a dildine and a feckless oaf and I was calling the police and he was hanus. Maybe if we all tell him the same thing he will get the hint.

Yall are doing it wrong. Screw with them. Make em think u really believe them, and give them fake info whenever asked for. When they call back accusing you of giving them the wrong whatever, tell them Im so sorry, I thought I could get away with it, blah blah. Give them another fake number...just keep it going as long as possible and waist their time like they do ours. Think of it this way, the time it takes for them to deal with you, they wont be calling others, and the fewer chances they have to call others, the lesser the number of successful scam attempts, and if it gets few enough they will eventually give up. But you gotta really screw with their heads and act all intrested or like your falling for it, drag out all the details you can. It takes time, but if we fight these dillholes back they will eventually get tired of trying to scam when they could earn more doing ligit things. Tho then again the government could get off their asses and actually battle this too, such as blocking whole areas that are known to have scammers there (Nigeria for example). What? people got relatives here from Nigeria, screw that make them write a letter, and tell them to thank those that like to waist peoples time a scam em to begin with. -_-.

Just for giggles I called the guy and he answered and I said he is hanus and he said what does that mean everybody keeps saying I am hanus. I said if the shoe fits then kick yerself in the butt with it because you really are hanus.

I love how Mr. Jones/ Mr. Robinson tells the guy to go kiss his mom's ass.
Very professional!

About 6 months ago I had the same thing happen to me...they harrassed me continually at for for about two weeks and then at home too...They told me that I was going to be getting sued by some bank that I never heard of because I owed them a little over $400...He told me that the court papers had been mailed out and I'm still waiting 6 months later...
