Edna A. Meacham, formerly of 121 S. 10th St., Olean, NY

OLEAN, NY - Edna A. Meacham, formerly of 121 S. 10th St., Olean, passed away on Wednesday (Feb. 1, 2012) at Pines Health and Rehab following a lengthy illness.

Edna was born Sept. 5, 1932, in Bullis Mills, Pa., and was a daughter of Fred and Ruby Benten Unverdorben. She was formerly married to George F. Ferry Sr. and Donald Meacham.

Edna was a graduate of Eldred High School. She worked at the Olean General Hospital in the maternity ward for a number of years before going to work at the Country Nursing Home. While at the nursing home, Edna worked as an aid and then worked in the housekeeping department, from which she retired in 1994 after being there for more than 15 years.

Edna enjoyed going to the beach, auctions and playing cards. She truly loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially her grandchildren.

Edna is survived by two sons, George F. (Rebecca) Ferry Jr., of Olean, Steve A. (Caroline) Ferry, of Bolivar; two daughters, Tina A. (James) Farmer of Olean and Deborah J. (Al) Skinner, of Olean and Florida; eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara O'Toole and Rosalie Stanton; one brother, Rodney Unverdorben; and many nieces and nephews.
Edna was preceded in death by six brothers, Jack, Richard, Gordon, Fred, Clifford and Alton Unverdorben; and two sisters, Ida DeFiore and Gladys Smith.

Friends will be received from noon until 2 p.m. Friday in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, 646 E. State St., Olean, at which time a memorial service will be held.

The Rev. Gregory J. Dobson, pastor of St. Mary of the Angels Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Michael A. Farmer Memorial Fund, Inc. C/O James Farmer, 121 S. 10th St., Olean, NY 14760, to support research in the prevention and cure for epilepsy.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. 646 E. State St., Olean.
