Too bad there was no sobriety checkpoint, roadblock or whatever they want to call it in place. It is inconceivable that the state police spend countless hours trying to ensure that no citizen operates a vehicle under the influence in our state and yet a member of their own hadn't got the message.I think any person who enforces driving laws should be held to a higher standard. And if they are found to be in violation their penalties should be doubled or tripled. The police should set the example for everyone, not open themselves up to public ridicule with bad decisions.

I find the above comments to be disgusting. Yes, there are bad apples in every bunch, but you seem to paint all law enforcement officers with the same brush. These men and women risk their lives every day so the rest of us can be safe. How do you thank them...with negativity.

Easy there 12:26..I think and agree that they were only refering to the bad apples..The rest I totally agree with!!!!!!!!!!

I don't believe that the comment posted at 10:28 is not saying anymore than the fact the law enforcement officers should receive a harsher punishment for their violations. A citizen who commits a crime against a police officer is sentenced harsher than if the crime is committed against another citizen. I 100% believe that they - police officers - should be punished harsher.

The key word is "allegedly". From now on, when we read where a cop makes a arrest on a citizen, look for the word "allegedly"
Just sayin....

I lay down at night and say my prayers, everytime I thank God for all the logic on this sight.

It's so comforting.

This is such a bad and sad situation, As I wonder in my mind how many times the officer has arrested others, for DUI charges while he served on duty Representing the R.A.M.P. Reasonable Alcohol Managment Program. Which officers are made to pass and teach other people who serve or sell alcohol.
Being the Police are under oath to up hold the law and have higher standards, They inturn should have stiffer sentences placed upon them as Officers of the Law.

I know of a Coudersport State Trooper that Totaled his Mustang while he was hammered and his colleagues just covered it up. This was several years ago, he has since left the department, but several of his Buds are still at the Barracks.

Prayers to the Nunemaker family at this tragic time.
