Betty Jane Marsh Tice Northrop, 90, of Coudersport, PA

Betty Jane Marsh Tice Northrop, 90, of Coudersport, PA died Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital in Coudersport.

Born on June 13, 1921 in Renovo, PA she was the daughter of Elizabeth Mae Marsh. In 1922 she was adopted by her grandparents, Delbert and Fannie Mae McClinsey Tice. On April 13, 1944 in Ft. Myers, FL she married Benjamin Llewellyn Northrop, Jr., who died on December 24, 1995.
 

Mrs. Northrop was a 1940 graduate of Galeton High School. She was formerly employed with the A-1 Stop, Widmann’s Discount Store in Coudersport and with GTE Sylvania in Galeton and Emporium, PA. She had also been employed for 7 years at the Crittenden Hotel in Coudersport. She was a volunteer at the Coudersport Senior Center and at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Northrop enjoyed people. She loved her Maine-coon cat, Mr. Babe. She loved to go shopping, to read, and enjoyed holidays and activities with her family.
 

Surviving are five children, Benjamin L. Northrop, III and his wife, Noreen, of Odessa, TX, Cora Tarabori and her husband, Donald, Sueann Walaski and her husband, Gary, Betty Jean Mottern and her husband, Dave, and Michael Northrop and his wife, Betty Jean, all of Coudersport, eleven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one granddaughter, Tammy Tarabori, and a dear friend, Beverly Frith.
 

Friends are invited to attend a memorial service to be held at 11:00am on Monday, April 2, 2012 at the Fickinger Funeral Home, a Life Celebration Home, of Coudersport. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in West Hill Cemetery in Galeton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sweden Valley Manor Activities Fund, 1028 E. Second St., Coudersport, PA 16915, or to Home Health Care of Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, 1001 E. Second St., Coudersport, PA 16915.

Sue, Cora, Betty and all, we are so very sorry for the loss of your mom..She was a very special lady and is going to be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her..You are all in our prayers..
