“beloved sister and aunt”

SHINGLEHOUSE, PA---Kathryn Ann “Kate” Scott, 62, of Shinglehouse, left this world on Tuesday, April 10, 2012.

Born January 22, 1950 in Olean, she was a daughter of Gertrude A. Stannard Scott and John C. Scott, Sr.

Kate graduated from Oswayo Valley High School and was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Vietnam War. She enlisted on October 5, 1970. She served at Walter Reed AMC in Washington, D.C. Following her honorable discharge in August 1976, she joined the Army Reserves. She ended her military career in 1994.

She also was a drill instructor for Camp Cadet Pennsylvania State Police Academy from 1986 to 1996.

Kate’s love of animals and stewardship of the land will be passed on to generations. Her friendship, kindness and love will last forever.

Surviving are her brothers, Jim Scott of Tampa, Florida, Bill Scott of Buffalo, NY, and Tom Scott of Shinglehouse; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.

Kate was predeceased by her parents; and two brothers, John and Bob.

Members of the Potter County Honor Guard will accord military honors on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at 3 p.m. at the Shinglehouse American Legion. Friends are invited to attend.

To honor Kate’s wishes there will be a memorial service on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 12 noon starting on Old Baldy followed by a journey to the “crick”.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shinglehouse Borough for a memorial bench on the nature trail in Shinglehouse in Kate’s honor.
