Ogdensburg Road in Tioga County to get a new, modern bridge

Travel Advisory
Ogdensburg Road in Tioga County to get a new, modern bridge

A bridge carrying Route 2017 (Ogdensburg Road) over Mill Creek in Union Township, Tioga County will be replaced starting April 23.

The existing 34’-long structure was built in 1929 and is classified as structurally deficient.

This $898,969 bridge replacement project will include removal of the existing bridge and construction of a new structure including paved approaches and upgraded guiderail and drainage.

The bridge will be closed while improvements are made by The Velotta Company and a signed detour will be in effect. Traffic will be detoured for approximately five months using Route 14, Route 3014 (Spencer Road), Route 2006(Spencer Road continued) and Route 414. The detour is planned go in effect on April 23 and motorists should plan to use the signed detour route until work is completed.

The modernized bridge is expected to be opened to traffic by the end of September.

When the work is completed, the bridge should not have to be closed for at least 50 years. Although routine bridge maintenance will take place in that time period, any bridge closure or restriction would be minimal, barring any unforeseen events.
