Tractor Trailer Crash Closed Rt. 15 Thursday

Tractor Trailer Crash Closed Rt. 15 Thursday
Mansfield Fire & Ambulance
Today at 12:51, Mansfield Fire and EMS as well as Soldiers and Sailors Hospital Medic 2 were dispatched to Route 15 on the bridge over Spencer Rd. for a Tractor Trailer Crash with explosion.

Chief 2 arrived on scene, established command, and reported both North and South bound lanes blocked with heavy debris and hazmat conditions. Chief 2 requested a response from PennDot, DEP, DES, and the county hazmat trailer.

Engine 2-2, Ambulance 2-6, and Rescue 2-8 (with hazmat trailer) responded to the scene. Blossburg Rescue 4-8 assisted by closing Spencer Rd. as parts of the truck had made Spencer Rd. impassible. Ambulance 2-6 transported to the hospital while fire personnel began the tedious clean up.

Route 15 was closed from Route 6 to Canoe Camp Exit. Due to the extreme amount of traffic being rerouted into Mansfield Boro, Police from the Boro and University provided traffic contol at every red light.

Fire personnel were in quarters at 15:52 when PennDot took over traffic control. Tanker 2-5 was requested to the scene by DEP at 17:00 to flush the drains on the bridge. Once that was done, the road was opened completely and everyone was clear by 18:00.
