Dream Big Read 7-12 Galeton Library

Dream Big

“Dream Big, Read” (for grades K-6) begins Thursday, July 12th from 1:00-2:00 pm with a program on bats! There will be a program hosted by the Penn State Extension on Thursday, July 19th from 1:00-2:00 pm (theme is still to be determined). On Tuesday, July 24th from 1:00-2:00 pm we will be investigating the world of owls and on Thursday, August 2nd at 7:00 pm, Bwana Jim will be back with his fun and informative talk and his wonderful, adorable animals! (The Bwana Jim program is open to everyone, regardless of age, so come on down and help us welcome Bwana Jim and his wild, wonderful animals!)

There will also be a “Dream Big, Read” program for children birth through PreK on the same days and times as the K-6 program. For more information, you should leave a message for Kim Holcomb at the Library.

“We Own the Night”, the Teen Summer Reading program (open to everyone age 12 and up) starts July 2nd! First up is Monster Face Painting & Felt Zombie Creation (Monday, July 2 at 1:00pm). On Monday, July 9th at 5:00pm we will be hosting a Monster Panel. If you think you know your monsters, come on down to the Library and go head to head with our experts (Mitch Kreisler, Madness Expert; Gabe Hakvaag, Post-Modern Mythologist; Kevin Coolidge, Cryptid Keeper; and Jen Colson, Nightmare Whisperer)!! The winner will receive bragging rights and the soon-to-be-famous Cup-o-Cthulhu Trophy! Finally, on Monday, July 16th at 5:00pm we will have our Book-n-Movie night featuring "The Woman in Black" by Susan Hill (if you would like to participate in the book-n-movie program, please contact either the Library or Jen Colson so we can order a copy of the book for you.)

The end of the summer party for all three programs will be on August 9th at 1:00 pm. Cake, games and prizes will all be available so don’t forget to come down and celebrate your reading accomplishments!!
