Installation of Pavement Markers Could Bring Short Travel Delays

Installation of Pavement Markers Could Bring Short Travel Delays

Clearfield – PennDOT District 2 will start a project next week with the goal of increasing centerline and edge line visibility for motorists. New, plowable pavement markers will be installed across eight counties in District 2. This work will take place on various routes, including Interstate 80. Work will begin Monday, June 18.

The markers alert motorists to the centerline and edge line of travel lanes through the use of reflectors. The snowplowable markers resist breakage if they are struck by a snowplow’s blade. Work in District 2 will include routes in the following counties: Cameron, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Juniata, McKean and Mifflin.

Work will begin on I-80 in Centre County. Crews will install the markers on I-80 eastbound from mile-marker 137 to mile-marker 170. Crews will then head westbound on I-80 in Centre County.

The week of June 25 will feature installation in Clinton County, starting with eastbound, followed by westbound, from mile-marker 170 to mile-marker 195. The week of July 9 will feature installation in Clearfield County, starting with eastbound, followed by westbound, from mile-marker 96 to mile-marker 137.

After I-80 work is done, crews will move to I-99. PennDOT will issue an updated release as work progresses.

This work is a moving operation and drivers may find lane restrictions and slowed traffic in the area of the work crew. Drivers are reminded to proceed with caution and be alert for roadway crews. The contractor on this $267,000 project is Green Acres Contracting of Scottdale. Work is expected to be complete by October.
