PITT-BRADFORD TO HOST INTRO TO GPS, GEOCACHING CLASSES

BRADFORD, Pa.—The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford will hold two introductory classes on GPS and geocaching, a popular outdoor activity.

Both classes will meet from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The first class, for children ages 7 to 12, will meet on July 28, and the second class, for adults 16 and older, on Aug. 25. The classes will gather at the Kinzua Bridge State Park Pavilion, four miles north of U.S. Route 6 in Mount Jewett on SR 3011.

Participants will learn how to use GPS, how to navigate GPS screens and how to use GPS units to find a geocache. GPS equipment will be provided.

During the course, participants will take a gentle 1.5-mile hike while looking for geocaches along the trails of Kinzua Bridge State Park. Those attending will also learn proper geocaching etiquette.

Participants are asked to pack a lunch and wear comfortable walking shoes. Water will be provided. The course will take place rain or shine.

Children must be registered with and accompanied by an adult. The cost per participant for each course is $20. Class size is limited to 15 students.

For more information or to register, contact Pitt-Bradford’s Division of Continuing Education and Regional Development at (814)362-5078 or at contined@pitt.edu.
